Location
Croatia is situated in Central Europe, right next to the Mediterranean Sea. More than quarter national income comes from tourism, thanks to the magnificent and world famous Croatian coast. Rijeka is located in beautiful "Kvarner Bay" and it's the national biggest harbour known also by the shipyard "3. Maj". Just ten kilometers outside the city there is Opatija, exlusive tourist destination, in the past prefered by the Austrian-Hungarian Emperor Frantz Joseph. Thanks to mild mediterranean climate, whole this part of the country is appropriate as a health resort.
Another advantage of Rijeka is connection with Europe. There are four airports distant less then two hours drive from the city:
- Zagreb (capital of Croatia), cca. 1.40 hours
- Trieste - Ronchi dei Legionari (Italy) cca. 1.30 hours
- Ljubljana (capital of Slovenia) cca. 2.00 hours
- Krk (Croatian islad in the Kvarner Bay) cca. 0.40 hours
